Very apt post at this time. I recently was browsing a local website and came across an ad for Amway Products this is the info that was on the site - I've deleted the address and phone number here in order not to identify the ABO

Name: Amway Products
Categories: Cleaning Products
Address: xxxxxxxxxxx, xxxxxxx, Co. xxxxxxxx
Phone: (xxxx) xxxxxxxx

So I phones Amway UK/ROI and asked if I could place a general advert on a local site and I was asked to submit a link to the site I wanted to post on. I found similar sites and sent the links of two of them but not the one where I found the Advert in order to protect the ABO who by the way I don't know. This is Amways reply.

We thank you and acknowledge receipt of your email regarding advertising on websites.
Currently as there is a moratorium on BSMs, and this includes websites, we are unable to authorise any adverts on them.
Kind regards,

I wonder how an advert for products in a general sense can be classed as BSM. :banghead: :banghead:

Hi RW1

Did you see on the Amway home page the CELEBRATING 35 yrs in the UK/ROI. A day was held at at Amway Headquarters on 18th Sept and the NEW MD Andy Smith ( in the job less than a month ) was talking about OUR Company etc etc. Not one of the IBOs that had been responsible for bringing millions of pounds worth of business through their endevours over 25/30 years of loyal effort was even made aware that there was such a day being planned. What a great opportunity to re egnight faith that the Company and ABOs were working together..wasted. Not one of the people at Amway celebrating 35yrs of success has STP or developed15/20 customers to service each month or created a group of loyal ABOs etc. let alone created a group that has turned over repeat orders over those years
Why was this event not promoted to ABOs ??
Why were senior ABOs not invited to this event ??
Why did Amway not have the whit or wisdom to make this day a very special day for Distributors ??
Why could Amway not have had a ONE DAY SEMINAR to recognise the 35years and have a re-build extravaganza
Why could this event not have made the media ( the neggy about the court case did)

Anyway we had 32 people at our home for a retraining of STP...but most of the people do not want to STP till certain things happen/change as they feel it is not a business that they want to put in front of prospects just yet.

Sorry to derail the original topic...but wanted to put all of the above to RW1 as he and I will one day share a stage together talking about what we had to go through to re-build our businesses here in the UK/ROI

Is the network marketing industry in general confused about how to take advantage of the Internet and keep a level playing field? Is "level playing field" even an issue considering the ease of setting up a web-site or blog? Maybe Amway Global will be relaxing Internet advertising rules in the future, like they did with the retail sales rule (allowing us to sell at temporary events).

Hi WGO - you mean this notice - http://www.amway.ie/news?news_id=10595&back_uri=/ didn't pick it up until this morning was away in UK for a couple of days [hope I wasn't invading your area]
You would imagine they could do better than that - Amway are great at keeping secrets.

35th YEAR BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT UK HEADQUARTERS :
2008-09-26

Amway continued its 35 years of successful trading in the UK from the Milton Keynes Headquarters on 18th September with the local community last week.

Local businesses, business neighbours and local/ regional media, staff and local beauty press attended for the celebrations.

The Mayor of Milton Keynes was also present on the day and was given a makeover from expert make-up artist, Cecilia Liden, ARTISTRY™ and E, Funkhouser New York™ trainer.
Turning back time to the 70’s, the event was themed back to the decade where the journey began at Kiln Farm in 1973 - the same year that glam rock band Slade was topping the charts, Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em was a television hit and Britain joined the EEC led by Ted Heath as Prime Minister.

General Manager/ Director Andy Smith said: "35 years is a major milestone for us, and it was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate with the local community and give them the opportunity to see what we do, learn about our future growth plans, and the success of the business through our staff and independent business consultants."

I can't see how the internet isn't a level playing field. Anyone and everyone can setup a blog free of charge. Allowing advertising is a different story, but that's not what I'm suggesting.

Hope you are as tough on others when they are off topic and even worse when promoting their other networks :( Point taken though - did you get the message WGO :nono: :nono:

discussions wander, that's expected, but the UK stuff was not remotely related to anything else in the thread. WGO - best thing would have been to start a new thread, and if you were concerned RW1 might miss it, to put a brief post about it in this thread, with a link. And if you don't know how to do those things, ask! :)

I was using the word "advertising" loosely. There are things that we wouldn't consider Internet advertising, but Amway apparently does.
