Does the climate have anything to do with why the best music in the world comes out of Ireland? Are you a fan of The Saw Doctors, Ireland's best rock band (sorry U2)? Your comment reminds me of The Saw Doctors' song "Will It Ever Stop Raining?" from the "Songs From Sun Street" album. It's about having all the beach gear and the time off to enjoy the sun, sand and waves, but the weather just won't cooperate. I've got to get back to Ireland soon. When I went in July, 1999 it was sunny for almost a straight week. I even got burned on the Aran Islands. But I did get drenched the morning I left Donegal, near end of my trip. :)

I'm just posting this to remind everyone that ....

trolls are NOT orcs

Yes, trolls are evil but orcs were first created by Melko as his broodlings in The Tale of Tinúviel.

Tolkein never says where Trolls come from. He thinks that some have different origins because some turn to stone in the light and others don't. Of course that would only mean that trolls are really just a counterfeit of something else. Treebeard I believe said he thought that he thought that Sauron made them to become his own Ents.

And yes, I sent ajgannon a little longer PM correcting him on his slanderous comments! lol Who's the dork now, right?
:rotfl:

But seriously, I needed to clarify that because it was bugging me. Though, aj, if you find in any of Tolkein's journals that theorizes that any of the dark lords cross bred orcs and trolls (and EW! gross!!!) I'm fine looking it up.

Aj Climate has everything to do with it - we put the musicians out in the wind and rain until they sprout and grow and mature and then we harvest them and package them for export all over the world where people like you can enjoy them. :chillin: :music:
Saw Doctors are a great band from Tuam in Co. Galway not far from the Aran Islands - you will be glad to know that we have rain on the way from the west coast - but for some reason it always seems to miss the Islands especially in summer months - a little bit of Heaven.

Okay, Joe. I admit that I haven't read The Lord of the Rings for several years. I've been reading too many business, self development, and spiritual books. You definitely sound like you're more familiar with the details of troll and orc origins. I submit to you authority on the subject. However, whether I encounter an orc or a troll, I'm likely to finish them both off with my bow and arrow.
:offtopic: Oh, well. I think this thread is toast anyways.

RW1, that was a great reply regarding musicians and climate. :) I was actually wondering if there might be something to it, for real. :dontknow:

Yeah, I forgot to compliment RW1. That was pretty cool.

AJ, don't worry, I googled the information. :rotfl: I haven't read anything beyond the War of the Ring books. However, Tolkein is wonderful reading. C.S. Lewis fiction is great, but he leaves a lot to your imagination, where as Tolkein is so intricate you just gotta love it. Plus, his use of the English language is nearly unsurpassed! It's great reading. When I go Silver, or when I'm debt free, my first purchase is a full original first prints of ALL Tolkein's work. It's gonna be awesome!!!!!! And I'll tell my group and my j-o-b that I'm going on a trip to England for a month just to read Tolkein. lol
