One of the "Duncan Pun'kins" Greg Duncan had mentioned during one talk that the typical amount taken from an ATM is $20. I remember my mom a few years ago hated going to the ATM because she HAD to take out $20 and she didn't want to because it was "too much from our checking account." Now that I realize this, when people ask me if I'm making the kind of money I sometimes tell them that my goal is $3 million a year, but last month I did make an extra $100 (or whatever it is I made).
Greg, like many of you have mentioned, said he was buying cell phones for his office employees and there were people in line. He asked what they were doing and the man told him they were paying their bills. Greg, being online enough knows you can pay online or over the phone so he was confused. The sales associate said that when you have your service cut off, you have to pay in the store to have it turned back on. Greg then said he didn't tell that story to make anyone feel bad about that stuff, but to remind us as to where many people are at. They're trying to get by and that extra couple hundred a month could really help them out!
Great stories!
